FLIGHT Emerging Leaders 2025 (waitlist)

Welcome to FLIGHT, a five-month programme to support emerging leaders to develop the skills and the confidence to become efficient Team Leaders in their roles across the social and community sectors. This programme explores who we are as leaders, how to implement good practice in our leadership, providing practical tools to implement in everyday work, this programme will grow your leadership skills for this unique workforce in a way no other course can provide.

This programme is designed to provide monthly workshops that bring together other members of the community to build connections and share knowledge, focussing on key attributes of good team leadership. At the workshop, each participant will be provided with a resource to provide additional learning and further exploration.

Each month the participants will have the opportunity for a one-on-one mentoring session to explore how the learning is being implemented ad to address any questions that may be specific to their context or their style of leadership.

We are very lucky to have secured funding to enable us to maintain the subsidised cost at $1000 (+gst).

Session One: My Authentic Leadership Style

This session explores the different leadership styles and identifies the attributes of the individual in their leadership.

Session Two: Creating a ‘team’

This session explores how to develop a team culture and understand how behaviour and values affect the vision and purpose of a team.

Session Three: Team Dynamics

This session explores the five dysfunctions of a team and provide strategies for building a healthy team culture.

Session Four: The Messy Middle

This session explores the tension that can exist between leading a team and managing the other responsibilities held by management in the social services sector, including contract management, achievement of KPIs, service delivery and organisational responsibilities.

Session Five: Moving Forward

This session reflects on the learnings achieved so far and develops a plan for the future.

Our development programmes include:

  • 5 monthly workshops
  • 5 individualised mentoring sessions
  • Additional resources and information
  • Certificate provided on completion of the programme

Our development programmes also include free membership for the individual engaged in the programme so that they can maximise the free activities and resources available through Bellbird.
